Now that I have recovered from my food coma and endless amounts of leftovers, its time to get back to posting! I know I’ve been MIA for a little while but I have a really good excuse.. my husband Cliff was home for Thanksgiving!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 This is so exciting because he works in the oil field and they do NOT recognize holidays.. crazy right?!?! They don’t even stop drilling for Christmas. If the Grinch could own an industry, it would be the oil field. Well it just so happened that in between moving from one rig to another, he got to come home and it was over Thanksgiving! I took advantage of the situation and have been completely ignoring the world starting the second he got home. What is it the kids say these days?? oh yes… #sorrynotsorry 😎 We had an awesome Thanksgiving but now its back to reality I guess..
At this point in the holiday season, you are either already sick of Christmas music (because people started playing it in like October.. weird..) or you have embraced your inner Buddy the Elf and are singing loud for all to hear! Even though I am loving the holiday songs right now, this weeks Soul Food song is not one of them.
When you are going through a hard time in life, there are (in general) 3 stages of it. First it takes you down, you hit bottom, and then you start the climb up to recovery. This song is perfect for that moment you realize you have hit bottom and are staring at that uphill battle ahead of you. I love the lyrics to this because it talks about how regardless of what you are facing, you just have to be strong and keep going. Its like the rock band version of Dory from Finding Nemo when she says “Just keep swimming! Just keep swimming! Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming! What do we do? We swim!” Well this song totally nails the Dory mindset because it repeats the lyric “Move along” over and over again until it finally clicks with you. Yes.. you are in the middle of something horrible. Yes.. you have an uphill battle ahead of you. Yes.. its not going to be fun. But guess what??? Just be strong and KEEP GOING. You will make it through. A few key lyrics are below.. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!!! ♥
Move Along – The All American Rejects
“Go ahead as you waste your days with thinking
When you fall everyone stands
Another day and you’ve had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your
Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold”
“Speak to me, when all you got to keep is strong
Move along, move along like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along just to make it through
Move along.. Move along..”
“When everything is wrong
We move along..”

Thanks!! That is good advice for everyone. Glad you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving!
