Here is a look at everything that has happened since the moment we decided to start trying for kids. Doctor visits, periods, exams/tests, surgeries, and recovery times. Its crazy to see how much we have been through so far! If there is anything you want to know more about just let me know!
..2015..
December..
- 12/1 – Decided to start trying for kids
- 12/11 – Last active birth control pill taken
- 12/12 – Start of period (lasted 7 days)
..2016..
January – April..
- 1/16 – Start of period (lasted 8 days)
- Feb. – Skipped full period but had spotting on and off all month
- 3/9 – Start of period (lasted 9 days)
- April – Skipped full period but had spotting for majority of the month
May..
- 5/11 – Start of period that did not end. Excessive constant bleeding resulted in first doctors appointment being scheduled (this period lasted for almost 3 months from 5/11 until 8/9 when I had my 1st surgery)
June..
- 6/28 – OBGYN appointment with dr #1, refered me to dr #2
- 6/29 – Fertility specialist appointment (dr #2) – in office ultrasound – ovarian assessment report – blood work
July..
- 7/6 – Saline infusion sonohysterography (SIS) exam with dr #2 – more blood work
- 7/7 – Hysterosalpingogram exam (HSG) – meds taken for 1 week
- 7/12 – MRI exam (with and without contrast)
- 7/14 – Follow up for all test results with dr #2 and found out all the bad news – blood work
- 7/20 – Second opinion with dr #3 – in office ultrasound
- 7/27 – Third opinion with dr #4
- 7/28 – Fourth opinion with dr #5
- 7/29 – Decision made to stick with dr #4 (best decision we ever made!)
August..
- 8/3 – Pre-op appointment with dr #4 – blood work
- 8/9 – Surgery #1 – Complex Abdominal Myomectomy – fibroids were removed from the muscle around the uterus – uterine stint (1 week)/blood work/30 days of meds (7 total) – stayed in hospital for 5 days
- 8/13 – Released from hospital to go home!
- 8/17 – Post-op appointment and uterine stint removal with doc
September..
- 9/15 – Finished with surgery recovery meds – full recovery expected to be 6 months from surgery date
October – December..
- 10/10 – First period since surgery (lasted 7 days)
- Nov. – No period
- 12/15 – Second period since surgery (lasted 6 days)
..2017..
January..
- 1/30 – Period did not start naturally on time so doctor gave meds to force a period to start
February..
- 2/10 – Pre-op appointment with doc for second surgery – blood work
- 2/12 – First shot I had to give myself to prep for surgery (I don’t do needles so this was terrible!)
- 2/13 – Surgery #2 – Laparoscopic Myomectomy – fibroids removed from inside of uterus – uterine stint (1 week)/blood work/30 days of meds (6 total)/daily shots (32 total)
- 2/20 – Post-op appointment and uterine stint removal with doctor
March..
- 3/14 – Finished with surgery recovery meds and daily shots (32 total at this point)
- 3/16 – Start of period (lasted 6 days)
- 3/24 – Hysterosalpingogram exam (HSG) – meds taken for 1 week
- 3/27 – Call from doctor informing me of the need for 3rd surgery based on HSG results 🙁
April..
- 4/24 – Period did not start naturally on time so doctor gave meds to force a period to start
- 4/28 – Pre-op appointment with doctor for third surgery
May..
- 5/1 – First shot I had to give myself in prep for surgery
- 5/2 – Surgery #3 (repeat surgery #2) – Laparoscopic Myomectomy – additional fibroids removed from inside of uterus – uterine stint (1 week)/blood work/30 days of meds (6 total)/shots (32 total)
- 5/9 – Post-op appointment and uterine stint removal with doctor
June..
- 6/2 – Finished with surgery recovery meds and daily shots (64 shots overall)
- 6/3 – Start of period (lasted 5 days)
- 6/12 – Hysterosalpingogram exam (HSG) – meds taken for 1 week
- 6/14 – Follow up appointment with doctor and in office ultrasound
July..
- 7/13 – Start of period (lasted 5 days)
- 7/26 – Doctor appointment to see how things were going at that point in my cycle and discuss options for next months cycle
August..
- 8/12 – Start of period (lasted 4 days)
- 8/14 – Started meds on day 3 of my cycle to help grow eggs
- 8/15 – Ovulation shot ordered from special pharmacy
- 8/25 – Doctor appointment to check on egg development and ovulation shot given in office
September..
- 9/13 – Start of period (lasted 5 days)
- 9/15 – Started meds on day 3 of my cycle to help grow eggs
- 9/17 – Ovulation shot ordered from special pharmacy
- 9/26 – Doctor appointment to check on egg development and ovulation shot given in office
October..
- 10/13 – Start of period (lasted 4 days) – extremely painful and sick for 2 days
- 10/17 – Started meds on day 5 of my cycle to help grow eggs
- 10/19 – Ovulation shot ordered from special pharmacy
- 10/27 – Doctor appointment to check on egg development and ovulation shot given in office
November..
- 11/14 – Start of period (lasted 4 days)
- 11/16 – Started meds on cycle day 3 to help grow eggs
- 11/17 – Ovulation shot ordered
- 11/27 – Doctor appointment to check egg development and ovulation shot given in office
December..
- 12/13 – Start of period (bummer) and decision made at doctor appointment to begin prep for IVF
- 12/15 – Started on prep for IVF with birth control and daily shots (the count continues!) All necessary IVF appointments scheduled with doctors office
- 12/18 – Blood work done and found one hormone level to be too high
- 12/20 – Blood work again to recheck hormone level (still too high) so all IVF appointments cancelled until hormone levels are under control
- 12/21 – Doctor takes me off ALL medications and shots and wants the check blood work again in 1 week
- 12/22 – Started another full period that lasted 5 days 🙁
- 12/29 – Blood work done again
..2018..
January..
- 1/1 – Doctor called with news that all my levels are normal! Hooray!
- 1/22 – Meds taken for 4 days to get a period to start
- 1/26 – Start of period (lasted 4 days)
- 1/28 – Start of IVF prep meds and daily shots
February..
